Platycerium madagascariense is a highly sought-after, rare epiphyte native to Madagascar's wet forests. It is easily recognized by its unusually compact size (up to 25 inches across) and deeply ridged, gemstone-green shield fronds. 

This delicate, slow-growing staghorn fern is highly prized for its unique, corrugated foliage. For optimal care, it requires: 

• Environment: Thrives in "cool tropical" temperatures (tolerating lows in the 40s°F and highs in the 90s°F), but grows best when given high humidity (above 60%) and excellent air circulation. 
• Mounting: As an epiphyte, it needs to be mounted. The use of tree-fern plaques or wood wrapped with high-quality sphagnum moss is highly recommended. 
• Watering: Unlike some other Platycerium species, it should not be allowed to dry out for prolonged periods. The media must be kept moist, using clean water low in dissolved solids
